First Saturday Contra Safety Policy

At First Saturday Contra, we are dedicated to creating a space that is joyful, inclusive, and safe—physically, emotionally, and socially.

Everyone deserves to dance in an environment free from harassment, coercion, discrimination, and unsafe behavior.

Our Guiding Principle: The Platinum Rule

All dancers will be excellent to each other by following the Platinum Rule:  Do unto others as they would have you do unto them—within your own personal comfort levels.

This means:

• Ask before dancing close, switching roles, or offering feedback
• Listen to verbal and nonverbal cues
• Respect boundaries, identities, and personal space

If You Experience or Witness Something Concerning

We want everyone to feel safe speaking up. If something happens that makes you or someone else feel unsafe or uncomfortable, please report it—whether it seems
big or small.

You can:

• Talk to Emily Rush (organizer)
• Talk to the sound tech
• Talk to the person at the front desk
• Submit anonymous feedback through our Feedback Form

Accountability Matters

Violations of this policy may result in a warning, removal from the event, or a ban from future dances. We take all reports seriously and are committed to handling them
with care and discretion.
